This week our Store Spotlight introduces the Magrath Bone & Biscuit in Edmonton, Alberta to share their experience and local insight! Kris opened this Bone & Biscuit location with his father, and since then they’ve hosted an annual ParknPooches event at Terwillegar Park. 1. When did Bone & Biscuit Magrath open?
Our Edmonton pet store had its grand re-opening in March of 2014 and we have been in operation since then.
In January 2020 we moved into our new location! Come visit us in Terwillegar, Edmonton for all your pet supply needs!

Our Edmonton pet store’s new address is 14251 23 Ave NW in Terwillegar Towne.

4. What is your best-selling product/toy right now?
We have so many products that sell so well, it’s hard to pick! Currently, our top-selling pet treats are the famous Tilted Barn Meat Sticks. Our top-selling dry dog food is Acana, followed closely by Nutram! Our top-selling raw dog food is Carnivora with Pets Go Raw and Bold by Nature not too far behind!

5. What’s your name?
My name is Kris, and together with my business partner Gord, we have endeavoured to only bring the best and healthiest selection for your fur babies in our Edmonton pet supply store!
6. What has inspired your interest in owning a Bone & Biscuit location?
Having dogs as part of your family and protection in third-world countries was a necessity. As a result, experience in natural pet raw food diets and interaction with the more feral aspects of our furbabies was a daily aspect of life. Me and my father had always talked about owning a family business together and with his life/construction/architecture background coupled with my retail management experience, Bone & Biscuit was a good fit.
7. Where is the nearest dog park?
Terwillegar Dog Park is the closest park to our pet store, and it’s about a 5 min drive away. Look for us there every summer when we host our annual ParknPooches event!
8. What is the best advice you could give to new pet owners?
Ask questions, probe, research and NEVER get all your information from one source.
Health and wellness start with a mix of the right diet, the right environment, and the right training. People default to getting all of their information from vets as they simply are not aware of other options. Many people don’t even know that holistic vets exist! A dog or cat is a lifelong commitment and they are looking to you to provide a stable, loving home for them. Firm love, with the right nutrition (which never comes out of a bag) will take you far.
