This week we introduce Bone & Biscuit Oakville South to share their experience and local insight! Read on to learn about the new store owner as she shares her story.
1. When does this location open?
Our doors officially opened on February 9, 2019, and to say we are excited is an understatement! To celebrate our long-awaited opening we are offering a chance to win a $100 gift card when you sign up to our Biscuit Bucks loyalty program, not to mention double points all week (February 11th to February 17th)! And we look forward to hosting a grand opening in the spring after the winter thaw.
2. Where are you located?
We are thrilled to be located in beautiful Old Oakville. You’ll find us in the Shops of Oakville South on Cornwall Road (east of Trafalgar), where we are in great company with Longo’s, Harper’s Landing, B.Good, The Danish Pastry House, OKO Bagels, Snuggle Bugz and many more!
Our address is:
487 Cornwall Rd., Unit 9
Oakville, ON
L6J 7S8

Or call us! Our number is: 905-337-2525
4. What’s your name?
My name is Erin. I own the store together with my husband, Dave.
5. Who else has been integral to the opening of the new store?
This is a family owned and operated store. You will see me (Erin) managing things day-to-day with an occasional cameo by Dave, and possibly even our 5-year-old son, Declan, who is very eager to “help”!
6. Do you own any cats or dogs?
Of course! Currently, our pack consists of two dogs, Louise and Carl, who were a significant motivating factor behind this endeavor.
Louise is our 8-year-old Weimaraner. Always on watch, this one! While you might not see her much in the storefront, rest assured this spunky girl is running a tight ship in the back office keeping things safe and secure!
Carl is our 6-year-old Doberman/Weimaraner cross. With his passion for people and a tail that won’t quit, we have the perfect position for Carl as our Store Greeter. Given he is also very talented at eating, as well as tracking his inventory of toys, we may expand his position to Treat & Toy Tester.
Here they are modeling some fun sweaters we have in store now!
7. What has inspired your interest in owning a Bone & Biscuit location?
We experienced so many health issues with both Louise and Carl growing up (we often joke with our veterinarian that both dogs read medical textbooks in their spare time), including but not limited to pneumonia, gastroenteritis, allergies, arthritis and hip dysplasia. The silver lining of each experience was the opportunity to educate ourselves, not only to combat these issues, but to improve the overall health and well-being of our furry family members. And using healthier high quality products, we have seen first hand the positive change in their health!
Owning and operating a business has been a long time aspiration, and in researching options it quickly became clear that The Bone & Biscuit Co. was the perfect fit for us. As discerning pet parents ourselves, we connected with the philosophy and focus on thoroughly vetted, natural high quality food, supplies and accessories. We are eager to continue expanding our knowledge on pet health and nutrition and look forward to sharing that with our customers!
8. Louise and Carl hit the jackpot now that you run a specialty pet supply store! What kind of toy/treats do Louise and Carl currently love?
Both Louise and Carl are on a raw diet, and you have never seen two dogs more excited for every meal! There are great options for raw local to Ontario (Iron Will, Bold Raw/Mega Dog Raw, Back2Raw, Tollden Farms and more!), and our dogs have tried most of them.
Another favourite is Phyto Synergy from Adored Beast Apothecary. This is a phytoplankton supplement, which offers trace minerals, chlorophyll, essential amino acids, DHA, EPA, protein, carotenoids, antioxidants, amino acids and vitamins! We like its “superfood” qualities and the dogs like that it smells of the sea.
And of course, our son (Declan) likes the fun bakery treats. Who doesn’t love a whimsical cookie from time to time?
9. Where is the nearest dog park?
Post Park is very a popular and well-loved leash free park a short 10 minute walk (or a 2 minute drive) from our store!
We also personally frequent the leash-free area at Bronte Creek Provincial Park. Our dogs love to run and so we love the expansive fields and trails, and the creek, of course!
10. What is the best advice you could give to new pet owners?
It’s been said that medicine is sick care, and food is health care. So it’s important that we feed our pets a healthy diet. Not all foods and products are created equal, so do your research and review the ingredient panels on the products you are feeding to your pets. We want them all to have long and healthy lives!
Thanks for the spotlight Erin!
