Store Spotlight: Bone & Biscuit Welland

Bone & Biscuit is excited to announce the opening of our new store location in Welland, Ontario! Read on to learn about the new store owners as they share their stories.

 

1. When do you open?

We are very happy and excited to say that we are planning to be open on September 25th, 2020!

2. Where are you located?

Bone & Biscuit Welland is located at 589 South Pelham Road Unit #140. In a quaint little plaza in the South Pelham Market near the Welland-Pelham border.

4. What are your names?

My name is Stephanie, and my husband’s name is Ken.

5. Who else has been integral to the opening of the new store?

This might seem out of the realm, but it was the passing of our Dogue de Bordeaux “Angel” that was instrumental in our decision to open a health & nutrition-focused dog & cat food (and accessory) store.  When investigating the possible causes for the cancer our young Bordeaux was afflicted with, we discovered to our dismay that it was very possibly our choice in food that caused her to develop this disease. 

6. What inspired you to own a Bone & Biscuit location?

We were inspired to purchase a Bone and Biscuit Co. franchise after digging deeper into the harms an improper diet can cause in both cats and dogs.  We are also both deeply passionate about all animals and their welfare. We decided we wanted to provide a source for healthy, nutrition for pets.  The Bone and Biscuit Co. is most definitely an advocate for proper nutrition and healthy living in dogs and cats and as a result, they were a perfect fit for us.  Ken was born and raised on a farm, so he was lucky enough to have the opportunity to raise and care for many different types of animals, both domestic and wild.  Personally, I have never been without a dog by my side.

7. Do you own any cats or dogs?

Currently, we own 3 dogs.  Brandy, Bianca, and Winnie.  Brandy is our senior Pomeranian pup at 11 years old, but someone needs to tell her she is a senior because she does not slow down and still acts like a puppy.  Bianca is a 4-year-old Maltese with lots of spunk. That always keeps us laughing.  Winnie is a 2-year-old Pomeranian, who has the sweetest and loving personality. 

8. Your pets hit the jackpot now that you run a specialty pet supply store! What’s their favourite treat or toy from Bone & Biscuit?

All our fur babies love the same delicious item from Bone and Biscuit; it is Boss Dog frozen yogurt treats. They all just go crazy for them & devour it. It is a huge bonus that those treat cups are extremely healthy for them all too.  We also have had to find some creative hiding spots to keep their Farm Fresh Pet Foods – Canadian Bacon treats at home, otherwise, we cannot draw their attention away to anything else – except their supper!

9. What’s your favourite product from Bone & Biscuit and why?

Our favourite Bone and Biscuit product is the Churpi Durka bone made from yak milk. It keeps our three dogs delightfully entertained and is another extremely healthy treat for them all.

11. Where is the nearest dog park?

We have a local dog park located at 16 Colborne Rd called Welland Dog Park. This is about 5.6 kilometres away from our Welland location.

12. What is the best advice you could give to new pet owners?

The best advice I could give to a new puppy owner is that nutrition is number one and it will help make your pup flourish and of course, always top that up with lots and lots of love!
