The Bone & Biscuit in St. Albert opened November 22, 2019.

2. Where are you located?

4. What’s your name?

Lee & Tara Edwards

5. Who else has been integral to the opening of the new store?

This is a family owned and operated business in St. Albert. My husband Lee, 2 sons; Brett and Ethan, our parents, and our beloved dog Manny have been my greatest supporters in bringing this business to fruition. My cousin and friend Michelle will be with me in the trenches to provide great customer service and help educate new and old pet owners about the importance of nutrition and general pet health.

6. Do you own any cats or dogs?

We have a 14 year old Shih Tzu Poodle cross dog named Manny. Our sons named him after Manny The Mammoth in the movie Ice Age because of his loving and courageous characteristics and color. Manny is a fantastic companion who is not only eager to please but is also loyal, playful, and energetic. He definitely does not show his age. You will most likely find Manny sleeping on the job or welcoming and making new friends.

7. What has inspired your interest in owning a Bone & Biscuit location?

Prior to moving to St. Albert we resided in Grande Prairie that have a Bone & Biscuit. Our past experience dealing with that store has inspired us in this journey. The owner and her store staff not only provided us with good natural products and supplies but they also helped educate us on the importance of providing our dog with a healthy diet to maintain a longer, healthier, and happier life. We have seen this firsthand in our dog Manny as he still has the energy & bounce of a much younger dog. We have always been animal lovers and we are excited about being in the business of sharing this education with other loving pet owners and providing excellent customer service once you walk through our door. The Bone & Biscuit’s principles of Integrity, Courtesy, Teamwork, and Knowledge has resonated greatly with us.

8. Manny hit the jackpot now that you run a speciality pet supply store! What kind of treats does Manny currently love?

Manny absolutely loves the Farm Fresh Canadian Bacon pork treats. Not only are they a soft meaty treat but they are 100% Canadian made. All ingredients are natural with no by-products or additives. They actually have human grade ingredients in them.

9. Where is the nearest dog park?

The city of St. Albert has two dog-friendly parks where dogs can meet, exercise, and socialize. One is located in Lacombe Lake Park and the other, Dodger Dog Park, is located in the Campbell Business Area. There are also a number of designated off-leash areas throughout St. Albert.

10. What is the best advice you could give to new pet owners?

Start off your pet owner’s journey by picking a dog or a cat that best suits your lifestyle. Be understanding and teach and train your pet while practicing patience and compassion. Your pets love to spend quality time with you by going on long walks and runs or just playing around the house and yard.  Pets are loyal companions who trust and love unconditionally. Help keep them in good condition with regular visits to the vet and educate yourself about your pet’s nutritional health and wellness.

Thanks for the spotlight, Lee & Tara!
