4 Things You Need In Your COVID-19 Pet Plan

During these uncertain times, it’s vital to make a COVID-19 pet plan that includes both yourself and your pet. A pet plan can be helpful if you become sick or your pet has a health emergency. At the Bone & Biscuit, we’ve got a few tips to make your own COVID-19 pet plan.

Here are 4 ways to keep your pet safe and cared for during the COVID-19 pandemic.

1. Plan Ahead For Pet Supplies

We recommend stocking all your pet essentials for a minimum of two weeks in advance. If you’re unable to leave the house, then you can rest easy knowing you have all the supplies your pet needs.

Many of our Bone & Biscuit locations are offering delivery services to those in need. Check with your local store to see what options may be available for you.

2. Arrange Alternative Pet Care

In an interview with The Canadian Press, the CEO of Humane Canada, Barbara Cartwright, urged pet owners to have a minimum of three contacts who can care for your pet if you fall ill. Arrange for a few friends or family members to provide emergency pet care.

3. Walk Your Dog On A Leash

Each time you take your pup on a walk, it’s important to maintain physical distance. Even well-trained dogs should remain on a leash at all times. By doing this, you won’t need to come within 2 metres of another person to retrieve your dog.

Read our COVID-19 Announcement for more information on how we’re implementing physical distancing in our stores.

4. Stay Informed On Changes With Your Vet or Pet Hospital

During COVID-19, it’s likely that your vet or pet hospital has changed some of their procedures. Make sure you’re informed on who to contact, where and how to bring your pet in the event of a health emergency.

Remember, if you are feeling sick, it’s best to let someone else care for your pet. They’ll ensure your furry friend gets all the walks, treats, and love they need while you recover.

From our pack to yours, stay safe and healthy everyone!
